Jay Finocchiaro, MA

Hailing from Australia, Jay brings many years of experience in the entertainment industry. He began his career as a dancer, singer and musician, performing across 33 countries. Over time, Jay has built a diverse career, working across numerous productions alongside some of the industry’s most recognised names.
Professional theatre credits include the stadium production of Aida (Jacobsen International), The King and I, starring Hayley Mills (Gordon Frost Organisation), Oedipus Rex (Impulse Theatre Co.) and 12 productions at the Sydney Opera House which includes A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Baz Luhrmann and designed by 4-time Oscar winner, Catherine Martin.
Film wise, Jay's experience includes being a casting assistant for Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg, The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann and HBO series The Pacific produced by Tom Hanks. In 2005, he worked with Heath Ledger in his directorial debut (a music video for N'Fa Jones) and prior, in 1995, was involved in the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations, which was presented to over 120 government officials and state leaders, includeing Pres. Bill Clinton and Pres. Nelson Mandela.
Jay studied acting, theatre and education at the University of New South Wales in Australia and holds a Master of Arts (Film) from DeMontfort University, UK. He added training in acting, directing and film in places across the UK, Europe and USA. Amongst the masterclasses and industry sessions he attended, have been led by the likes of Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Jean-Luc Godard.
Jay has taught acting for Identity School of Acting, Dublin Central School of Acting, The Australian College of Entertainment and Sydney Film School. He has organised workshops in Los Angeles, London and Paris, and arranged masterclasses led by Andrew Lesnie (Academy Award winning cinematographer of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie trilogies) and Richard Donner (direector of Superman starring Gene Hackman, Marlon Brando and Christopher Reeve).
Jay draws on his practical experience as an actor, director, filmmaker and casting professional, with an emphasis on developing confidence, preparation and an understanding of professional practice.
